April: An exciting start to spring!

Ahhh…Spring is in the air! And that means a host of activities close to Plantana Condos that everyone can enjoy alone or with the entire family.  This year, Easter takes place towards the end of the month but leading up to it are a variety of fantastic culinary, sporting and arts events you can enjoy before you brunch, attend church services or simply bask in the spring sunshine on Seven Mile Beach.

Taste of Cayman is one of the most anticipated annual epicurean events in Cayman, and if you have never been, don’t miss out on this lovely evening of delicious foods, refreshing beverages, awesome entertainment and fun activities for the kids at the Cayman Parent Kids Zone.  The event takes place on Saturday, April 6 from 5pm – 11:45pm at the Festival Green in Camana Bay and tickets are $50.

Flowers and spring go hand in hand, and the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park’s Annual Orchid Show is at the top of the list for anyone seeking beauty and nature.  Over the years it has grown to include some of the most gorgeous, exotic orchids from around the world and Cayman native species. Food, drinks and plants are also on sale from 9am – 4:30pm on April 6th and 7th.  Note: this is also the home of the world’s only Blue Iguana, so inquire about tours and photo ops!

Easter weekend will see a number of different activities happening including camping by locals on beaches across Cayman.  Of course, the Easter bunny will be hopping about also, and right here at Plantana, our youngest guests are invited to take part in Plantana’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 21st from 9am.  Baskets will be provided to children, and the gardens will be chock full of colorful, chocolate filled eggs and other goodies! Get in touch with us at the office for more information.

Don’t miss Cayman Kitefest at Kaibo Beach on holiday Easter Monday, April 22nd from 1pm.  Fresh sea breeze lends itself for excellent kite flying, and each year the skies are filled with a rainbow of colorful kites as people enjoy this traditional Caymanian past-time.

No sports enthusiast should miss one of Cayman’s largest sporting events, especially since it takes place on Seven Mile Beach!  The NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour opens 9am Friday, April 26th – Sunday, April 28th on Public Beach, just 5 minutes walk from Plantana.  Teams from Canada, USA, Cayman and the Caribbean will compete at this exciting family-friendly event that is now in its 10th year.

What are you waiting for? Plantana is the perfect place to celebrate spring, so book now.  Visiting after April 16th? Take advantage of ‘stay for 7, pay for 6’ offer too!
