Arts & Culture to Enrich Your Stay

As temperatures plummet in the U.S., Cayman boasts warm, golden ‘sunshiney’ days swirled in cool, crisp sea breeze.  Seventy-five degrees of pure perfection.  What more could you want in early February?!  Perhaps a Plantana beach home on gorgeous Seven Mile Beach, a gastronome’s paradise, and arts and culture galore to enliven and enrich the soul.

Cayman Arts Festival takes center stage February 5th – 9th with more than 15 world-class performing arts events on the menu.  Highlights include Sips and Sounds with the Island Brass Quintet on February 5th at the Westin Hotel Ballroom and world-renowned flutist Nick Cartledge on February 7th at Camana Bay. The National Gallery, Visual Arts Society and other creatives will team up with the Festival to present unique arts events blending music, poetry, photography and much more, so don’t miss out!

If you would like to do something a little more hands on, the National Trust is hosting a traditional Peppermint Candy cooking class on February 2nd.  This class is oh-so-popular because everyone loves the process of whipping up the refreshing minty treats by hand – not to mention eating them afterwards! On Wednesdays, take part in Open Canvas at Karoo, Camana Bay, where local artists put brush to canvas to create beautiful works of art for the public to admire. Easels can be reserved if you’re feeling inspired – just bring your art supplies to join in on the fun.

For history buffs, a short trip into the nation’s capital to learn about our 3 islands’ unique natural and cultural heritage at the National Museum is time well spent.  The exciting, interactive exhibits are perfect for all ages and the Gift Shop has a wide selection of locally handcrafted items including Cayman’s semi-precious dolomite, Caymanite.  Caribbean Kitchen has an array of delicious foods and beverages complete with a view of George Town harbour.

On your next visit to Plantana, we encourage you to take in something fresh, new and exciting to enrich your stay.  Next up – love is in the air and we know just the thing to make the most of Valentine’s Day in Cayman.
