With the Cayman Islands surrounded by the beautiful and inviting Caribbean Sea, it’s no wonder swimming is one of the most popular sports here. One of Cayman’s biggest international sporting events highlights our love of the water and it’s just around the corner.

The clock was lazily approaching the half hour past 5pm, when a gentleknock on the Plantana office door signaled the beginning of an exciting change of pace: a scheduled  interview with a three strong, spirited women connected by blood who each, in their own special way, came to fall in love with Grand Cayman and Plantana 17 years ago.  As would be expected of Maria, the matriarch of the family, she initiated the call to action and was seated comfortably on the terracotta colored cushioned chair outside the office, in a lavender island chic outfit for an evening out with her girls.

If you love dancing, music and beautiful costumes, Cayman’s festival Batabano will be right up your street. Quite literally.

April saw the return of one of Cayman’s most popular international tournaments with the 2017 NORCECA Beach Volleyball tour taking place last weekend on the soft white sands of Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach, just a short stroll along the beach from Plantana.

Families really look forward to rest and relaxation when at Plantana Condos, and with Easter being symbolic of rebirth and renewal, it’s no wonder spring break getaways at this Seven Mile Beach hot spot have become a beloved tradition for so many of them.

For those lucky enough to be in Grand Cayman over the Easter break, the Camana Bay Chalkfest is the perfect opportunity for children and parents alike to show off their artistic talents.

The Cayman Islands is well known for being one of the best dive destinations in the world due to our crystal clear waters as well as the abundance of colourful sea life, including tropical fish, stingrays and sea turtles. Cayman actually has more than 365 dives site: one for every day of the year

The natural beauty of the Cayman Islands has served as inspiration for many artists and creators. Recently Plantana’s serene slice of Seven Mile Beach has not only proven to be the backdrop of another art installation but also the setting of a growing friendship for two young Plantana guests.

While it could be tempting to stay on Plantana’s exclusive stretch of Seven Mile Beach all day and play in the cool, blue Caribbean Sea, or just relax by our pool, there are many other activities to enjoy whilst vacationing in Grand Cayman

Just a 15 minute drive from Plantana, the Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter is the Cayman Islands’ largest land-based attraction and not only offers guests the opportunity to get closer to some of Cayman’s native animals but also provides visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the Cayman Islands.

With so many guests calling Plantana their home away from home, it’s no wonder that some of our longest standing guests have come to call each other ‘family’ as well. One such family, ‘The Beach Club’, as they are affectionately known here at Plantana, have been vacationing in Cayman since the 1990s.

If you have ever found yourself wandering around the lush gardens of Plantana during spring time, you will most likely have been treated to the sight of our lovely, native Wild Banana Orchid in full bloom. With Grand Cayman experiencing warm tropical weather year-round, were lucky enough to have many other stunning native flora and one of the best times to view this colorful display is during the Annual Orchid Show at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

You would be hard-pressed to find a more romantic place to spend Valentine’s Day than here in the Cayman Islands. From our beautiful beaches to our stunning sunsets, vacationing in the Cayman Islands could be considered the definition of romance. If you are lucky enough to find you and your loved one here on February 14th, we have a few suggestions on how to spend the day.

Imagine: several members of the Tennis Hall of Fame, Grand Slam Champions and former World #1s coming together for one night of exhibition entertainment.

A Plantana Tradition: Caymankindness Celebrated on Cayman’s National Heroes Day

The people of the Cayman Islands have welcomed thousands of tourists to our shores each year for more than five decades, and the young and seasoned proudly don the Caymankind badge of honor. A defining feature of the culture, it has earned us the title of ‘friendliest destinations in the world’ by many visitors.

When we go on vacation, we all try to escape the normal routine of day to day life. However, one thing that most of us won’t be able to escape is our craving for a little afternoon pick me up.

In January, Cayman has two amazing events for foodies. Both the Cayman Cookout and the Taste of Cayman Food and Wine Festival offer an opportunity to experience some of the best food in the world amidst beautiful surroundings and a truly relaxed atmosphere.

With temperatures dipping below freezing in many parts of the northern hemisphere, now is the perfect time to pack up your bags and escape Jack Frost

Grand Cayman experienced it’s first ‘cold front’ of the winter season this past weekend.

January is the month of new. New goals, new opportunities and, if you are in Grand Cayman, the chance to try new cuisine as this month brings about two of the biggest culinary celebrations that Cayman has to offer.
