Grand Cayman Island Weather

One of the most convincing reasons to travel to Grand Cayman Island is our tropical weather and year-round sun. With average temperatures between the high 70s to the low 90s, even during the winter months, Cayman weather provides the perfect temperature for enjoying the island. January and February are typically the coolest months, while July and August are normally the warmest. Rainfall varies depending on the time of year, but, unlike many parts of the United States, the spring tends to be the driest.

We recommend traveling between January and May, as Grand Cayman often experiences its most pleasant and driest time of the year along Seven Mile Beach.

With fares starting at $1.50 C.I., it is an affordable way to see the island. Licensed buses have blue license plates and will take both C.I. and U.S. dollars. While there are a few bus stops around the island, it is common for riders to flag down the bus from the side of the road. For those staying at Plantana, the Yellow and Lime Green routes (1 & 2) are the most popular, as they travel along Seven Mile Beach, from West Bay down to George Town.

Rental CarsRental Cars: Many visitors who wish to fully explore the island choose to rent a car, which can include everything from Jeeps to luxury SUVs. While it is not necessary to rent a car with the variety of taxis and buses available, and Plantana’s close proximity to most things you need or would want, it can be a nice way to explore Cayman at your own pace.

If you decide to rent a car, you can pick up your vehicle at the car rental pavilion directly across the street from the airport arrivals. At the rental car agency, you will be given a temporary Cayman Islands driver’s license to use during your visit.
